Carina Chaz is changing the way we think about fragrance. As the founder of DedCool, she’s built a brand that’s bold, clean, and unapologetically personal, turning scent into a lifestyle that extends from your skin to your laundry detergent. We sat down with Carina to talk creative routines, signature scents, and how she balances running a fragrance empire with staying grounded (hint: early mornings and eye patches are involved). Plus, she shares the Facile skincare staples that keep her glowing through it all.
I’ve always been obsessed with scent, and I knew I wanted to change the way people experience and define fragrance. With DedCool, the goal was to create a scented lifestyle—one that feels personal, expressive, and inclusive. We offer an individualist approach that meets people where they are, whether that means scenting your skin, your clothes, your pet, or all of the above. Our clean and genderless pillars have been foundational from the very beginning, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Great question—because the truth is, as a founder, you’re always on. There’s no real “work-life balance” for me; work and life are one and the same, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. My version of self-care starts with waking up super early and having a slow, intentional morning. It helps me feel grounded and sets the tone for my day. I’m always in multitask mode, so if that means walking my dog while wearing serums and eye patches, that’s self-care too.
Pink Sugar! I can smell it from a mile away. Back in 2007, all my friends were wearing it—it was everywhere. That’s when I first realized how scent could be a powerful tool for self-expression.
I usually wear what we’re working on—whether it's a sample in development or something pre-launch. Right now, I’m obsessed with Mochi Milk. I call it my “happy scent” because it instantly lifts my mood. And yes, I’m always layering! There’s no formula to it—it’s just a fun way to play and create unexpected combinations
Can I say all of them? I’m all about hydration and serums, but right now, I’m loving Clear + Brighten. I’m in skincare mode 24/7—it’s a constant part of my routine.
Fragrance is super subjective, which is what makes it so fun to explore. I always recommend starting with a sample or layering set—it’s the best way to play with different profiles and find what feels right without having to commit right away.
