WHAT TO EXPECT
As with any medical grade treatment, bruising can happen. Here are some tips to avoid potential bruising:
- Drink lots of water in the days prior to your appointment.
- Take arnica tablets two days before and after treatment. You can find these at most health food stores.
- Avoid alcohol a day or two before your treatment (sorry!)
- Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, fish oil, and Vitamin E for 10-14 days prior to treatment.
- If you opted for numbing, your provider will apply numbing cream to the area prior to treatment. You won’t feel any pokes or pain, however you may feel slight pressure in the area being filled.
- You might experience swelling in the injected area — that’s totally normal! Swelling that should subside within 48 to 72 hours of treatment.
- Bruising may appear in the hours after your appointment and last up to a week post-treatment, and will gradually subside.
- Don’t book a facial or massage on the same day you’re receiving injections.
- Apply an ice pack to the area three to four times a day to help reduce swelling.
- For best results with Sculptra, remember the five-for-five rule: You must massage the treatment area at least five times a day for five days.
- Wear sunscreen to protect your skin after treatment.
